After a week of student campaigning, including
posters festooning the walls of the high school and word-of-mouth
soliciting around the halls and lunchroom, Student Council Election
Week culminated in a student wide assembly in the auditorium. Friday
afternoon's assembly was the scene of the first Student Council
candidate speeches in recent memory. Following opening remarks by
Principal Gene Mosley and Student Council Advisor Keith Boyle, seven
candidates addressed the student body, stumping their platforms,
hoping to garner enough votes to put them in the esteemed positions
of |

president, vice
president, secretary, and treasurer. Students respectfully listened attentively,
then cast their votes the following Monday, September 22. The winners were as
follows: President Samantha Castagna, Vice President Jessica Labanda, Secretary
Christina Nicastro, and Treasurer Zac Danciak. The Student Council expects to be
a more conspicuous entity and a louder student voice in the year ahead. |
