DHS Weekly Update

1/30/2026

Main Entrance

Hello Destroyers

Report cards for the 2nd quarter will be available to all DHS students after 4 pm today on Genesis.

A good start to the 3rd quarter for DHS! Despite the FRIGID temperatures and SNOWY weather, we are back in the routine of school and ready for the rest of the school year (especially Spring and some warmer temps.)

Let’s recognize our amazing school counselors, Dr. Best, Ms. Markert, Ms. Herrera, and Mrs. Leibowitz, as next week is National School Counseling Week (February 2–6, 2026). Let us celebrate and honor the incredible work they do every day. Their dedication, compassion, and unwavering support make a powerful difference in the lives of students and families at DHS.

Important Reminders

The DHS Homework Help Center runs from 2:45 - 3:45 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the DHS Tech Center. Students can come to get extra help from teachers with their school work or just sit and have a quiet place to get things done. We encourage students to attend so that they have fewer or no assignments to do when they get home.

For the Class of 2026: As college acceptances start to roll in, please be sure to contact Ms. Markert and the counseling office so that they are aware and help to make sure everything is taken care of with your college of choice.

The 2025 Exodus Yearbook is on sale. To purchase a yearbook, use the following link: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1057616/Dunellen-High-School/

Quarter 3 is officially underway and it’s already off to a great start.

Students in Ms. Fragale’s 9th grade English classes are beginning to read Night by Elie Wiesel. Through this memoir, students will explore how authors use personal experiences and reflection to tell real-life stories, while examining themes of identity, resilience, and history through close reading and discussion.

In Mr. Valenzuela’s Discrete Math class, students are beginning a unit on linear programming, using real-world scenarios to apply mathematical concepts and “connect the dots” between math and everyday decision-making.
