Important Reminders

Away All Day: We remind parents and students that there is no use of internet-connected devices during the school day. Students are not to use cell phones, headphones, earbuds, smart watches, smart glasses, and tablets. While most students have followed the new rules, some have needed reminders and have received consequences for their actions.

Attention Winter Athletes: Any student looking to participate in basketball, wrestling, or track this winter, be sure to complete the necessary forms in order to be eligible. For more information, please visit the DHS Athletics website: DHS Athletics

The DHS Homework Help Center is now open and will run after school, from 2:45 - 3:45 pm, and every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the DHS Tech Center. Students can come to get extra help from teachers with their school work or just sit and have a quiet place to get things done. We encourage students to attend so that they have fewer or no assignments to do when they get home.

Academic Corner: From the desk of Ms. Powell

Students in Ms. Laster's CP English I are reading John Green’s Turtles All the Way Down, exploring protagonist Aza Holmes and how her internal thoughts shape her perspective and interactions with the world. Meanwhile, English I Honors students are reading Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, analyzing Santiago’s dreams and aspirations beyond his life as a shepherd. Both classes are engaging in meaningful discussions, critical thinking, and real-world connections as they explore these compelling characters and their journeys.

Students in Mrs. Zandomenego’s Algebra I classes are tackling inequalities by solving and graphing them on number lines, using open and closed circles to represent solutions accurately. Through the Building Thinking Classrooms model, students worked collaboratively to solve problems, share strategies, and strengthen their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
