Hello Destroyers

Happy Halloween! There was incredible energy down the halls of DHS today. Everyone's creativity shone through in their amazing costumes which is always one of the absolute best parts of the day.

Congratulations to the Halloween Costume winners:
Student - Shaun Apice
Staff - Shrek

REMINDER: Saturday night marks the end of Daylight Savings Time and we turn the clocks back an hour as we return to Standard Time. Everyone gets an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning. It will be bright out earlier in the morning, but it also gets dark at night much earlier. Winter is right around the corner!
There is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th.

Singles players Ellie Uhler, Amina Black and Liana Huczak were all named to the All Gold Division Team. Also, congratulations to Coach Egan for being named Coach of the Year for the Gold Division.

Good luck to DHS Cross Country runners Koby Salazar and Jonas Bradshaw as they compete in the NJSIAA Sectional Cross Country meet on Saturday at Thompson Park in Monroe. When both runners ran the course last week, they set personal records and are hoping to repeat that success this weekend.

Good luck to the Girls Soccer team as they play in the First Round of the NJSIAA State Tournament on Tuesday at 2 pm with a game v. Brearley High School.
Good luck to the Boys Soccer team as they open up the State Tournament with their game against rival Middlesex High School on Wednesday at 4 pm.

Thank you to Dr. Best and the Counseling department for organizing the annual DHS College Fair for all 11th and 12th graders during their PE classes. About 30 colleges, trade schools, and professions were represented at the fair. It was a great opportunity for our students to meet with the representatives and help to plan for their futures.
In addition, there was College Fair Bingo, where students went to different tables to meet with representatives to be eligible for various prizes. Congratulations to all of the winners!

The DHS Homework Help Center is now open and will run after school, from 2:45 - 3:45 pm, and every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the DHS Tech Center. Students can come to get extra help from teachers with their school work or just sit and have a quiet place to get things done. We encourage students to attend so that they have fewer or no assignments to do when they get home.

Away All Day: We remind parents and students that there is no use of internet-connected devices during the school day. Students are not to use cell phones, headphones, earbuds, smart watches, smart glasses, and tablets. While most students have followed the new rules, some have needed reminders and have received consequences for their actions.

Attention Winter Athletes: Any student looking to participate in basketball, wrestling, or track this winter, be sure to complete the necessary forms in order to be eligible. For more information, please visit the DHS Athletics website: DHS Athletics

Academic Corner: From the desk of Ms. Powell

Mrs. Clemens’ Public Speaking students put their skills to the test by creating résumés and participating in mock interviews with staff! From making great first impressions to answering questions with confidence, students gained valuable real-world experience and a head start on their futures!

Mr. Kupiec’s AP Literature & Composition students explored “Paper Pills” through collaborative paragraph writing, analyzing concepts such as truth, the supernatural, and extended metaphor. Students are sharpening their critical thinking and writing skills as they prepare for the AP exam in May!
