13th Annual Young Women’s Conference

On Thursday, May 25th, ten young women from Dunellen High School attended the annual Young Women’s Conference. This year, the event was held in Sayerville, New Jersey and was sponsored by the
Coalition for Healthy Communities. This years theme was Step Right Up.

The program began with a breakfast buffet for the girls and several corporations and nonprofit organizations promoted safety and health on different tables. There was then a “Welcome speech” given by Ezra Helfand , the director of Wellspring Prevention Center. The Program began with a performance entitled Lady Parts presented by the Playground Theatre Project. All the young women were split up into different workshops on topics such as: Date Safety, Nutrition, Let’s Love Out Loud, Check it out & and Budget like a Boss.

Everyone received a lunch, compliments of the program, and then the girls were on to Workshop Session 2. This trip was a great experience for some of the young women of Dunellen High School. The girls were able to learn and take in a lot of information which they will all use to help benefit the other young women of DHS.
